The good news - I had an email from someone at Longman, who want to reprint one of my online essays.
The bad news - all the buildings in the university now have signs pointing down to the basement saying "Shelter".

The funny thing is that while it has aroused more interest than anything else I've written, I don't think it's one of my better pieces. I didn't do any research or even much thinking; I was just letting off steam.

Incidentally, the mail addressed me as "Ms. Turner".

And by the way, you will not find me going down to the basement. If we're talking normal explosive-type missiles, I don't want a building falling on my head. If we're talking chemical weapons, poison gases are heavier than air (they'd be pretty useless if they weren't) and the best defence is to go upwind and get plenty of fresh air.
