King of Beers
Wednesday, September 1st, 2004 11:27 pmTo my surprise and pleasure, our local supermarket has started stocking genuine Czech Budweiser.
Uncharacteristically, I'm rather enjoying lager-type beers at the moment, which is just as well, given that you can't get bitter in Turkey - the closest thing they have is Efes Dark, which is a kind of brown ale. Note that they use an English word to make it sound foreign and exotic. Speaking of which, on my way to buy beer I noticed an advert for a dry-cleaning shop called "DRY Mycope". OK, I get "DRY", but "Mycope"? It sounds like some kind of protozoa.
