Having taken fauxpas' Are you my best friend? survey and failed through a lack of knowledge of American English and '80s culture, I couldn't resist designing one of my own. However, as readers of this journal know, I never do real surveys, partly because lots of people find them irritating, but mainly because I can't be bothered. So if by some weird chance you actually want to do this one, you'll have to paste it into an email or something.

Wow, some people actually did it!

"Correct" answers:

1. A typesetting language, and a kick-ass one at that. The only thing that stops me wearing an "I love LaTeX" T-shirt is that people might think I was referring to (c).
2. Kickass and painful (good to know you've started, Anna!)
3. Beats me, though "reminds me of Robin" gets you grovel points.
4. Writing Perl (or any of half a dozen languages). A Perl script looks like a hamster's been jumping all over your punctuation keys.
5. Binoche, with Yeoh a close runner up. If Juliette Binoche did kung fu, she'd be a clear winner.
6. Bluefish, though (d) and (e) impress me. Lose points for (a) - you are polluting the web with non-standard Microsoft HTML.
7. (b) "Life is too short for emacs" used to be my e-mail sig.
8. Epicurus with Zeno a close runner up. Score points for Rama Lama Dingdong unless you thought it was a real person, and extra points if you know the song it came from. Lose points big time for Ayn Rand.
