Amelie

I was too tired to watch a whole film, but I wanted the flavour of a film, so I watched the first 20 minutes of Amelie. The delightful thing about watching films like this is the knowledge that you and the film are on the same side.

So ... if I get some work-unimpeded time to myself of the weeked, I have the joy of watching all of Amelie, and maybe Fanny and Alexander!

Have you seen Dirty Pretty Things? I'm intrigued because (a) it's directed by Stephen Frears, who made the wonderful My Beautiful Laundrette, and (b) Audrey Tatou is pretending to be Turkish. OK, she looks Turkish, but can she really pull it off, or will it be as embarrassing as Tan Sağtürk pretending to be American?
