Hey, off to England today! I haven't been back for two years, so it's quite exciting. I always get a kind of reverse culture-shock when I go home: orderly traffic, pubs closing before midnight, rain, greenery etc.. International travelling always makes me nervous, though. I don't mind planes themselves, but I hate all the hassle of getting to the airport, checking in, customs and the like. I always have this foreboding that I'm going to be late or lose something or get stopped at customs because I haven't got some obscure bit of paper or am the spitting image of some guy on Interpol's "most wanted" list. Funny, since I only ever once had a hitch with air travel, which was when my flight to Istanbul was delayed and they'd sold our connecting tickets to Ankara, which meant spending the night at Istanbul airport. Actually not such a bad experience, since I was with a group of other teachers and we had our duty-frees and a game of Twister (which earned us some very strange looks).

My hapkido teacher is back from the states today, so I'm off to see him and get in some intensive martial arts chat before I go for my plane.

I lived there for about 2 years though in high school. It was a place to meet other students before going out to somewhere else, barhopping is the thing. We also hung out at a latin dance club called the salsa, cute waitresses there.
