While browsing around the LJ FAQ, I found that the following content is prohibited:

Content that is motivated by hatred towards an individual, race, ethnicity, or orientation

An individual?? So are all those myriad journal posts along the lines of "I hate my Dad" or "Eminem sucks" violating the TOC?

Actually, what I was trying to find out was whether there is a way I can post comments such that only the journal owner can read them. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fauxpas I've managed to set up a filter system so that in addition to the usual "public" and "friends" entries, I have one that only my "close" list can read (nothing really juicy here either, just stuff I might not want circulating round campus). What I would still like would be able to post a comment to a LJ friend along the lines of "I see what you mean, my daughter is a heroine addict/axe murderer/NSync fan too" (not that I have a daughter, of course) but not have this displayed to anyone who views my "Friends" page and follows the link. Doesn't seem possible - the owner of the journal gets the red-eye symbol, but not the poster.

I know what you mean, it's bothered me that the poster can't use one of those red-eye symbols!
