I looked in the mirror yesterday. Not only was I disappointed as usual that my reflection was still visible, but I noticed that I'm getting definite white streaks. Acutally, not that definite, since unless it's sun-bleached, my normal hair colour is a sort of dark grey. Makes you think, though. Maybe I'll be like my maternal grandfather and go completely white in my forties. That would be kind of cool, but it means I won't be able to fool people into thinking I'm a student any more.

Oh, I completely agree with you -- he's a dog.
You're referring to his SLIPPERY SLOPE book, I assume. That book was a bombshell; I really wanted to throw it across the room. Got another woman pregnant, and basically dumped his girlfriend of 15+ years.
I think his personal life is screwed-up, yes, but I can't begrudge his storytelling ability. Unfortunately.
