People who would like to feel good about American action in Afghanistan should read this.

People with a more skeptical frame of mind might consider that it was partly thanks to the USA that this regime was established in the first place.

Being of a more skeptical frame of mind myself, I have to note that the US of A as an entity showed little concern for the human rights abuses in Afghanistan before September 11th of 2001. That Amercian forces helped to end the rule of the Taliban is in my mind an unquestionably good thing, but the motive seems to be more of revenge than of compassion. How many other countries are there where similar abuses are taking place where there are no terrorists hiding out to draw the wrath of the American government?
