I am pleased that in my fantasy course I have the kind of students to whom, when writing feedback, I can use the word "apocryphal". OK, they may not know it, but if they don't, I know they'll look it up, bless 'em.

These are the kids who stopped me after class to ask if I could go over the difference between a prototype and a semiotic icon, which is especially cool considering that this is the non-native English speakers' equivalent of a Freshman Comp course. I love them to bits.
