Is there nothing Linux developers cannot do? When the latest bunch of Ubuntu updates arrived a few minutes ago, I glanced at the notes on the upgrade to the kernel headers and noticed "prevent time from going backwards." Now that is reassuring.

Bastards! They haven't saved the Universe at all - all they have done is broken all the faster than light drives SF writers have been using for decades.

O mighty tech god... forgive my impertinence and ignorance for asking, but...

Isn't Ubuntu the MS-bitch version of Linux? I haven't followed Linux releases since it was my ambition to become the IRL Kate Hudson (and until I ran out of ppl to play with in my quest) and everyone ran RedHat.

Also, that whole preventing time from reversing is pretty cool of them. Kudos.

What do you mean by "MS-bitch"? If you mean "making a deal with MS," you're probably thinking of Suse, who are owned by Novell, who made some kind of patent-sharing deal with MS. Ubuntu is basically Debian for dummies.

Ahh, I see. I recently saw Ubuntu bundled on some UMPC machines over on dynamism.com and it seemed like it was an MS alternative to Windows platforms... maybe my impression was just off.

And Suse would be what I was thinking of... what little I recall of that deal hitting the fanblades; I think it was mostly patent-sharing in that MS and the Suse writers would overtly cooperate on making apps function across platforms and that MS would get some cash out of every copy sold to make up for their apps running but not in one of their DOS-descendant environments.

Thnx!
