I have just spent the last half hour trying to download Java Webstart and having the binary code appear on my browser screen. "Tested with all recent versions of popular browsers" my arse - how about testing with all w3c-compatible browsers?

I have one word to say to all you Java developers out there. Perl.

heheheheh... perl. The thought of trying to write a cross platform gui in perl makes me cringe. Anything on the console, having to do with text, sure - large scale applications which are suited to an interface oriented OOD - java if you want it x-platform, otherwise c++.

but i'm sorry to hear about your java webstart problems. that's no fun...

You're absolutely right - I keep forgetting that not everyone has Tk and Qt installed ;-)
