Advertisements, which fund the Web, need to be personalized on a mass scale.

I had to think about that for a while before deciding it wasn't actually a contradiction in terms.

Does anyone ever go back and try to find out whether Gartner predicted what actually ended up happening?

It's like the way that every December, newspapers publish predictions by astrologers about the coming year's events, but never publish what they said about previous years.

In the end, I think the Web will be funded by those of us willing to pay to not see advertisments.
