  • long conversations with [livejournal.com profile] maggie_lucy
  • being able to work undisturbed by anything more intrusive than birdsong
  • strong ales with strange names (Hobgoblin, Speckled Hen etc.)
  • Bushmills Single Malt
  • stilton
  • sitting in the garden
  • quirky English television
  • bilberry jam on crumpets
  • fish and chips
  • not having to stand on buses

Amen to that

Turkey has very few good whiskeys. A few decent scotches (Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie) and American wiskeys (Jack Daniels etc.). No Irish whatsoever. It's probably just as well, since imported licquor is very expensive (except for rotgut like VAT 69). There is a local whiskey, but you'd only use it for stripping paint.
