I've said it before, and I'll say it again (and will probably say it again and again) ...

Webmasters, please do not make links open in a new window. New windows are almost as irritating as popups (which I block for almost all sites). If I want a new window, I will open one, but I hardly ever do, because it is not the 1990s, and these days we have things called tabs. If I click with the left mouse button rather than the wheel, that means I want the page to open in the same window. Really.

In Firefox, you can disable opening new windows. I haven't seen one in ages. ;-)

I looked for that feature in Mozilla, but couldn't find it, though it might be in 1.7. I know Firefox has some bifty features that haven't been ported back to the main distribution yet, so this could be one of them.

Yay, Firefox is number one!

I didn't like the main distribution of Mozilla last time I tried it, it's still "ugly". :-)

But new windows are good when starting new "research trees"... Plus, not everyone has tabs; most of the world still uses that icky nutscrape or IE.

Sure, new windows are sometimes useful, but it should be up to the user to decide when to open one (surely even IE can do that). I hear that tabbing will be part of the next version of IE, as Microsoft finally enter the twenty-first century (I remember when nVidia brought out a Windows add-on a few years back to allow a semblance of virtual desktops - welcome to the 1980s!).

Enh.. I guess... I'm a new-window person, so I kinda like when the link is progged to open a new window (or better yet, a new tab); cuz sometimes I just get so busy clicking I forget to open new windows, then I can't read as many pgs simultaneously or I have to go back and forward.
