The Ultimate Game
Saturday, November 18th, 2006 04:05 pmThere have been posters around campus recently advertising “the ultimate game”. Naturally, my attention was grabbed, but I was disappointed to find out that this “ultimate game” is just some kind of business simulation. If there can be such a thing as an ultimate game, I imagine it would resemble the virtual world of Tad Williams' Otherland, where you can find yourself fighting before the walls of Troy one moment and in a fascist re-rendering of Oz the next. For the more intellectual among us, it might be something like Herman Hesse's Glass Bead Game. In any case, it wouldn't involve working out how to raise capital for your imaginary business venture, you sad yuppies.
