Will the real Solri please step forward?
Friday, November 17th, 2006 12:54 pmFor the idly curious (and to remind myself), here is an explanation of my user pics.

c. 1964. I'm the kid with the angelic blond curls; the arms belong to my brother Roy. Usually denotes whimsical or trivial post or comment (though I suppose that could be said of most things I write).

1990, doing t'ai chi shortly after shaving my hair and burning it as an offering to Kali. Often used for posts to martial arts communities to give the false impression that I'm some kind of badass Shaolin monk type.

1992 or '93, playing the baroque flute at a recital in Ankara. Currently my default icon.

Giving a tutorial a couple of years ago. Often used for academic or geeky posts.

My most recent icon. Not sure what I'm going to use it for yet.

Wolfie, the main character in the old British comedy series Citizen Smith (the T-shirt reads "Freedom for Tooting"). Used for political rants.

Karahan, one of my Mount and Blade characters. Used for posts about games, fantasy etc.

Still from Dawn of the Dead. Usually signifies exhaustion or exasperation.

Angel, of course. I haven't used this for ages.

The Sacred Chao, symbol of the cosmic balance (or perhaps imbalance) of Hodge and Podge. Used occasionally for introspective posts.

My doppelganger Teri. I disclaim any responsibility for posts bearing this icon.
