Kiad's journal

I really must take the trouble to read [livejournal.com profile] kiad's actual journal more often, rather than the entries on my "Friends" page. It is the most visually beautiful journal/homepage I have seen in my many years of surfing.

King Crimson

I need better headphones. I'm listening to Starless and Bible Black and can't get any decent volume.

To clarify what I said about it being King Crimson's best album: only side two (yes, boys and girls, albums had sides in those days!). I now agree with [livejournal.com profile] rodneyorpheus that John Wetton was the worst thing to happen to King Crimson. He sings so bloody carefully! Side two is instrumental and kicks serious ass, which is why I wish I could listen to it louder.

Oh well, that's the story of King Crimson: in every incarnation it's Robert Fripp, some well hard musos and a lame vocalist. At least Adrian Belew compensates for his vocal ineptitude with some superb guitar.

Pony tails

My hair has now grown back enough so I can tie it up twice - a pony tail and a top knot. I'm not sure if I look like Ilhan Mansiz, a bad guy in a low-budget Turkish historical film or a complete wally, but my wife thinks it looks cute.

In my favourite South Park episode (the rainforest one) I love the way Cartman takes a stick to any animal he encounters, shouting "Bad snake! Bad snake!" or "Bad three-toed sloth! Bad three-toed sloth!"

Well, I have to beat myself and say "Bad Solri! Bad Solri!" I promised myself that I would not drink today, since I'm just recovering from flu and my immune system doesn't want to be depressed by alcohol. But no, here I am, sipping the raki again. What is it about this drink? I like beer and wine, but I don't get the urge to drink them every night. It can't be the aniseed, because I've tried ouzo and pernod and been highly unimpressed (to mollify any Greeks reading this, I've heard that what is served as ouzo in Greek restaurants in England isn't real ouzo, so I shouldn't judge).
