I've just realised that now I have a decent monitor, I can actually have two documents side by side on the screen, with readable text and enough of it in the window not to have to scroll down after every paragraph. This makes grading different versions of student papers so much easier - I don't have to keep switching windows to see what they've done with my comments and corrections.

Yes, that's Zhang Ziyi peeping out from between the essays on epistemology and The Matrix.

Hmmm... oh, yeah: and you can also have multiple desktops on on monitor; which can be a mixed blessing.

On the rareoccasions I use Windows, I get claustrophobic from having to use one desktop. I here there's a Win XP addon that allows you to have multiple desktops in Windows now - welcome to the 1980s!

i wish i could use linux. I am stuck in win for the foreseeable future: the scripting language for openoffice spreadsheets just isnt good enough. i am very jealous.

I live on a computer, but i prefer to write most things hc. is that wierd?

I don't know much about StarBasic, but it seems to be a pretty standard scripting language, like the Basic used in Word. Personally, I'm lazy and just use the Macro Record function.

unfortunately, i program 600+ line monte carlo simulations. And what i've seen-though its been six months so i should look again-in the spreadsheets for linux just dont support looping, logic functions and finance functions sufficiently to be of use. :(

i wish i could record macros...
