Ugh - just as my life was going well, I run into the dreaded automount problem. I'd installed Mandrake 8.1 on the office machine and only just noted that the floppy drive wasn't being automounted. Turned out that I hadn't installed autofs, which is odd, because Mandrake normally does that by default. Have now installed it, but no luck with configuration - the damned drive won't automount! Last time I had this problem was a year ago with RedHat 7.0, the distro from hell. Am now waiting for a response to newbie@linux-mandrake.com . Just hope none of my workmates notice before I get it fixed!

Hah, just found that Mandrake doesn't use auotfs, it uses supermount. I've set that up now but Neo (name of this particular computer) isn't responding. "Free your mind, Neo!"
