Do computers perform a useful function, or were they just sent to annoy us?
Following the debacle in which my filesystems got in a twist I couldn't untangle, I'm attempting to reinstall Mandrake 8.0 on the office box. All goes well until I get to the partitioning and formatting stage, then I get the error message "Mount failed: no such device". I mean come on man, you just created /dev/hda5, /dev/hda6 and /dev/hda7, so how can you tell me they don't exist?
This means that either
1. Linux can sometimes be as stupid as Windows
or
2. My hard disk has been foobarred.
BTW, it's a sign of how much hard disk problems and the war in Afghanistan has taken over my mental agenda that Windows XP was released this week and I didn't make a single snide comment.
