The Doors

First I should say that I think the Doors were a hell of a good band, just in case anyone gets the wrong idea and flames me to a crisp.

I just watched an old Doors video. Well of course it was an old video; there aren't any new Doors videos (well, there might be, but I don't want to get into that Baudrillard hyper-reality stuff again). A nice song - Roadhouse Blues. What I couldn't understand, and have never been able to understand, was the hordes of teenage girls trying to get close to Jim Morrison. What he did was pretty good, but why does it make him sexy? I mean, I could do that. I even look a bit like Jim Morrison, or at least I did twenty years ago.

Update: Just watched the video of John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom". The only bluesman I might rate higher is Howlin' Wolf. If I were one of those screaming teenage fans, Hooker is the man I would want to lose my virginity to. Kind of like meeting the Devil at the crossroads.

yes, but when Jim did it, it was still a rarity. Plus, add in a healthy dose of self-destruction, and the chicks go wild.

Oh yes, it's that self-destruction thing I was never good at - all I manage is to be moderately unhealthy.
