Outside a colleague's office, I saw a poster saying "I hate conformity because ..."
I was tempted to write "... all my friends do."

Anyway, since everyone's doing it, here goes:

10 questions: Pick a band and answer only using that band's song titles.

1. Are you male or female?:
Brotherman

2. Describe yourself:
Brittle Butterflies

3. How do some people feel about you?:
Ego

4. How do you feel about yourself?:
Lost and Found

5. Describe your girlfriend/boyfriend/interest:
Parachute Girl

6. Where would you rather be?:
Worlorn

7. Describe what you want to be:
Satellites

8. Describe how you live:
Haywire

9. Describe how you love:
From the Cradle to the Grave

10. Share a few words of wisdom:
The Five Tones (deafen the ear)

I cheated a little, since they're songs from I band I used to play in (and 10. is atually an album title, not a song). How the hell did we come up with some of those names?

Worlorn was from a George RR Martin book, Dying of the Light, that I had read not long before.

A lot of the early titles came from things seen on consumer items eg Canned In Leuven was printed on a Stella Artois can. I think Lost and Found is the only one there like that (or maybe it was spotted on a Unix listing).

Most of the others look like titles from near the end of the 80s, and look like they were probably Quentin's. Parachute Girl I don't remember at all (sounds like it was probably Slates). Five Tones was yours, and I can tell you where it came from if you don't remember :-)

I later googled on Worlorn; it seems to be a pretty popular RPG as well. Lost and Found was mine, though I'm not sure what inspired it - I wasn't into Unix in those days. I think there was a Radio 3 program of that name. I do remember The Five Tones, though - it's from the Tao Te Ching (hence that Chinese-style casstette cover I did).

Parachute Girl was one we recorded but never performed. Just as well, as it was typical of our desperate attempts to get a recording contract towards the end of the band's life. I think we hit the right balance between musicianship and popular appeal in the early days of Big EZ, with songs like Brotherman and Ego; after that it went downhill, and we were just a pop group with flattened ninths. But the writing was probably on the wall when we stopped doing Birdland for an encore ...
