(from that flame I posted earlier)
i can see the insanity bubbling underneath your fascismile of caregiver.

I'm beginning to see his point of view. It's 2 a.m., and I have to get up at 6 a.m. to take my father-in-law to hospital. Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble.

Yeah these days I'd say that displaying kindness, selflessness, and generousity will cause people to doubt your sanity, since they're such rare qualities. You're doing something for someone else, with no hidden agenda? Off to the loony bin with ya.

I'm sure I have a hidden agenda; I just can't remember where I hid it.

There are taxis, but the hospital is a fair way from their house. It's also a question of moral support.

Get up at six (well, more like 6.30), get out of the house at seven, pick up patient at half past, arrive at the hospital at eight. Then wait three hours before they do anything.

Moral support? If you're really just pushed into it, it's not truly moral support, is it? But... then again, I suppose we have the right to bitch about even the things we choose to do. :)

It's one of those tricky borderline situations which are half-way between wanting and being pushed.

Generally I find that focussing on the wanting aspect improves my mood and makes me bitch less. If I want X and I need to do Y to get it, then in a sense I want Y, no matter how obnoxious it may be.
