OK, purging my friends list was a silly idea. It is now 4 a.m., and I think I've managed to re-add everyone who wanted to be re-added. If I missed you, bug me about it.

On the other hand, the people who I didn't want to apply for solri-friend status haven't done so, which is a relief (one of them unfriended me yesterday anyway, so I assumed he wouldn't). In these spats that sometimes happen on LJ, I'm not always sure who's wrong and who's right, but sometimes you have to take sides whether you want to or not, and I know where my loyalties lie (Oh God, this is starting to sound really LJ-histrionic - I didn't mean it like that, it's just a practical thing).

I was also touched that so many people wanted to be re-friended. I'll try and repy the compliment by writing some juicy friends-only entries!

I remain unFriended; however time (esp. LJ time) is limited, and it's been forever since I commented, and my own posts recently have had little to do with those outside Chicago, Illinois, USA, so I accept my fate without bitterness.

And the collective UnFriending/ReFriending thing makes sense to me, if you're willing to put in the time. Sort of like a Head of Government collecting everyone's resignations between terms.
