With the exception of three people I knew before LJ, I am deleting everyone on my friends list. I'm not indulging in LJ-drama histrionics; there are two simple reasons for this:

1. My frends list has got so long I can't read everyone's journals.
2. There has been a lot of silliness concerning some people on the list that I don't want to be involved with. I don't like to delete specific individuals, as it's a kind of slap in the face (but if those individuals have the gall to ask to be re-added to my friends list, they're going to get a serious hapkido open-palm neck-breaking slap!).

So, if you would like to be added to my new friends list, please mail me or respond to this post. It's not an attempt to create an LJ elite - all you have to do is write stuff that isn't totally boring and, more importantly, not harass my friends. If you're a nice person who writes interesting posts, I'll probably get round to adding you anyway, but I'd rather you saved me the trouble by responding directly.

Heh heh - we may be both only yellow belts in hapkido, but I've got fifteen years of t'ai chi on you, matey! I'll see your paka-chu and raise you a cloud hands!

Unfortunately it doesn't look like I will. My hapkido teacher has been stubbornly refusing to do hapikdo since September, and he'll be moving to Istanbul soon, so it looks like I won't be able to do hapkido at all. In some ways this is a relief - I have never known a martial art that hurts as much as hapkido! The other students in our gwan gave up ages ago, either because of work pressures or because they couldn't handle the training. At the moment I'm training (well, playing around, really) with my teacher's wife, who is a gumdo-in (she's a red belt, and will probably get her black belt this summer). She's teaching me gumdo, and I'm teaching her t'ai chi. Much more relaxing than having someone twist my wrist through 90 degrees then slam me down on the mat!

** I want to learn Tai Chi... and I agree with that.
I get kinda tired of coming home with bruises everytime I go to class
