Heart attacks and internet radio
Wednesday, April 23rd, 2003 03:52 pmI feel like death warmed up after a stressful day followed by a night of very broken sleep. My father-in-law had a mild heart attack yesterday and we took him to hospital, where he is being held for a few days operation before they operate (two of the veins aren't working). The problem with a member of this family going to hospital is that various other members who hate each others' guts turn up and start verbal fights.
We then spent the night at my mother-in-law's. I don't like sleeping in other people's houses any more (though I used to do it all the time when I was young) and that is also one of the last places I would choose to stay, even though this time mother-in-law was well-behaved and an excellent host.
Anyway, I'm now in the office trying to get my shit together. I'm helped by the fact the I have recently discovered the joys of Internet radio (I didn't listen to it before, because my home machine only has a 56K modem and my office machine didn't have a soundcard until recently). I've just found a station called Soukous Radio (Kanda Bongo Man, Les 4 Seasons, Jocelyne Labille etc.) which is just what my tired brain needs.
