A simple question

If an evil Islamic fundamentalist were to infiltrate the US government with the aim of ruining the American economy, making America hated throughout the world, whipping up international support for fundamentalist terrorism, and destabilising the Middle East, would he have behaved any differently from George Bush?

Well Bush does have that glazed, zombie look, and it's interesting how he's going after Iraq but going easy on North Korea. The tricky question is how the Commies got to him, given that he so assiduously avoided military service. Maybe "Fun with hydrangeas" is now a feature at Republican Party conventions.

Well, he probably wouldn't have raped the English language with the same alacrity as the Shrub.

Yes, he'd probably have been less efficacious.

well, i don't think there is all that much difference between an islamic fundamentalist of the musa sadr or the sayyid qutb schools - though both were certainly much brighter and thoughtful than the majority of their offspring - a christian fundamentalist.

that glazed look? terrifying isnt it? have you noticed how he smiles whenever he talks about killing people? this sick little grin with a tic...

imho, that glazed look is a direct result of being a reformed coke head and alcoholic. lets face it, he even admitted doing coke when he ran for governor of texas. and i dont think that ever leaves your system.

the only problem is that if he gets killed, the world and the us gets dick cheney, who is literally satan incarnate.

As one BBC commentator said during the last presidential election, "Given that the president of the USA is effectively president of the world, I wish Americans would take this thing a little more seriously."

dont forget that shrub lost the election in terms of the popular vote. the electoral college is a necessary evil, but this past presidental election was a farce.

just about everybody in new york is talking about tony blairs speech to commons before the war authorization vote. much the same as when everybody talked about how wonderful gorbachev was...

the problem is that if the US actually took the rest of the world seriously, i doubt the rest of the world would have a chance. which might be worse.

That's a point - maybe we'd better keep our heads down. "Forget politics - watch Superbowl!"
