I've just had a tooth out, bringing the total to two - unfortunately on the same side and close to each other, so that my lower right side is now less like a henge and more like a tor. My dentist reckons he can make a bridge to replace the tooth I lost a couple of years back, but the new gap will be hard to fill, as there is no tooth behind it. In fact, there's precious little bone behind it, which is why it got into such an irreparable state (I lost a chunk of jaw as the result of an impacted wisdom tooth). So it looks like time to start saving up for an implant - fortunately, dentistry is comparitively cheap in Turkey, to the extent that there is a new sector called "dental tourism". No kidding.
In the meantime, I can't eat for another hour, and I'm not supposed to smoke all evening. Still, he didn't say anything about alcohol, so Ramadan notwithstanding, I'm nursing the ache in my jaw with a bottle of Johnny Walker.

sorry!
