I am currently feeling like a Bad Person because I really don't care about Hurricane Katrina. If I were over there, I'd be among the first people to volunteer goods or services, but as it is, it's just bad weather on the other other side of the world. Sorry about that.

You feel how you feel.
And you're honest about it.

If this was another far away country, we wouldn't even be hearing the half of it. it's just that it's here, in the most important country in the world .

I got really moved by the london bombings. This is affecting me too, but not the same way. Not sure why. Then I know people where it was the other way around. There is no reason to force yourself to feel like everyone else.
You're not a bad person for feeling this way.

Dude! There's an unspoken rule that you're supposed to keep your lack of emotion a secret!

Oh solri stop being grumpy! Telecomm and the jet exposes us to each other in ways that we have yet to resolve. Shit, I appreciate the honesty.

Why should you care?

Its not your problem?
You shouldn't be guilt tripped into caring either ;)

It will have a big effect on the US, and thus the world, economy.

But as far as natural disasters go, it's not of the same scale the tsunami of last year.

I should add that my friend [livejournal.com profile] idontwanttoknow got out in the nick of time. I visited her in Old New Orleans last May. So I care, but your emotions are up to you!

Also, my home page is hosted by directNIC, run by [livejournal.com profile] interdictor in New Orleans.

*gasp* tut tut!

I have to admit a large part of me is sad more about the drowning of New Orleans as a city of immense musical and cultural historical value than about the people. oh dear...

I am knitting my hair shirt at the weekend...

Mind you, if you were President Tangy Apple who didn't care and just had a wonderful and much-needed vacation, I wouldn't let you off the hook so easily!
