Vanity googling
Thursday, November 4th, 2004 12:10 amGoogling on "solri" came up with my LJ userinfo as first hit, my sourceforge page, a lot of pages including the lojban word, a plant species, a piece of Star Trek fanfic, and a couple of obscure commercial products. The one that puzzled me was a Wikipedia article which read:
Solri is Lojban for sun, derived through a fairly arbitrary process from Robin = Robert = "fame-bright" in Anglo-Saxon. I am actually Robin Turner, a teacher at Bilkent University.
Obviously I wrote that somewhere, but how the hell did it get into Wikipedia?
Update: I now learn that "SOLRI" means “self-organized long-range interactions”. And the common name of that plant species? Stiff Goldenrod. Writers of fanfic please bear that in mind.
