I've just watched Underworld - that's the one with vampires and werewolves, in case you were about to confuse it with one of the other half dozen films of that name. I think it's proof that a film can be so derivative as to make you laugh out loud and still be enjoyable. We are talking Whitewolf's RPG Vampire, the Masquerade (specifically the "Under a Blood Red Moon" scenario) meets The Matrix. I mean if you are going have your heroine wear a PVC top and hold an automatic pistol in each hand, at least don't give her a long leather trenchcoat as well. Everything about this film said "I am a cheap imitation" (or rather a very expensive imitation, judging by the SFX) but even so, I loved it.

Such a pity that Kate Beckinsale is so thin now. When she had some meat on her bones she was teh hawt, as it were.

I believe they are working on a sequal. I liked the first one, even though I wanted it to be better.
hopefully it will.

It was pretty funny, but nothing compared to the laugh out loud 'oh how can the scriptwriter be serious' hilarity that was Van Helsing. Which also features Kate B in a corset.

Eh. I found Van Helsing mostly boring; sure, the plot was broken, and the acting was intermittently competent at best, and the script was dreadful, but it was all done in such a dull way. Underworld was all those things plus entertaining. I think the guns helped. And the coats were more dramatic, which is always a good thing.
