Semantic Gymnastics

A recent study of wage inequality in Belgium the EC found that companies are still getting round the equal pay laws by giving different job titles to men and women who are doing essentially the same work. In one Belgian supermarket, the women who cleaned the shelves were called "cleaning ladies", whereas the men who cleaned the floors were called "surface technicians".
