  • While I prefer baroque music played on authentic instruments, no one can do the Goldberg Variations better than Glenn Gould. (Dr. Lecter agrees.)
  • I just had to correct a sentence in a dialogue for an English TV lesson. Deniz, our Turkish hero, is preparing çiğ köfte and says he likes his food hot. Albina, the Bosnian beauty says "I like hot too," which I corrected to "I like hot food too." But I was very tempted to change it to "I like it hot too." Well, some do. Reminds me of the classic beginners' Spanish faux pas: "Estoy caliente."
  • My sleep patterns are still out of whack after visiting Nalan's sick uncle in Istanbul. That thing they tell you about an hour's meditation being worth three hours of sleep is only true in a limited way. Sure, you can get through the night by meditating instead of sleeping, but your circadian rhythms get screwed in the process.
  • In my virtual worlds class, one student said that the police used FaceBook to trace criminals and draft dodgers. My profile now reads "Robin is robbing a bank."
  • [livejournal.com profile] maggie_lucy has just given a workshop for the Embroiderers' Guild.
  • "Embroiderer" looks wrong, even though I know the spelling is OK.
  • Multiverse looks prettier than Second Life.
  • If I don't get a proper journal entry together soon, I may as well give up on LiveJournal and use Twitter.
