In the light of all this "men are from Gor, women are from some Marion Zimmer Bradley novel" evopsych stuff, can someone give me a reassurring genetic explanation of why either (a) men are deaf or (b) women have so little knowledge of acoustics that they think their significant other should be able to hear them through two concrete walls?
