Encouraging bad behaviour
Sunday, October 2nd, 2005 12:43 amNalan is out tonight, having gone to a gig by the band we went to last week. I was invited, but didn't go because I'm still a bit fluey, and didn't want to get in the way of her and her ex-student having fun. Nothing like a having a husband around to cramp your style. Said student is a really sweet, bright girl who used to be very religious (headscarf and all) but is now only moderately (but still quite seriously) religious and likes a good head-bang. This kind of thing needs to be encouraged.
Of course, since I am always one for balancing virtue and expediency, it means I also get to encourage my own bad behaviour. Nalan's cousin rang up a few hours ago to ask what was up. "Nothing much," I said. "Just sitting here with a mouse in my right hand and a beer in my left." "Heh heh, me too!" So the girls are dancing, the boys are surfing, all of us are drinking, and all is well with the world.
