Mozilla 1.7 is out
Sunday, June 20th, 2004 02:40 amBloody Hell, just when I'd finally got hold of the Mandrake 10.0 Official CDs and thought everything on my system was state-of-the-(stable)-art, Mozilla have to go and bring out a new sodding release! Don't these open source developers ever sleep?
Actually, a quick look at the "What's new?" page is making me think I might skip this release and wait for 1.8. 1.6 is working fine, and while there's some good stuff in 1.7, most of it isn't terribly relevant to the kind of things I do in Mozilla. Maybe just for once, I will not upgrade anything between releases of my favourite Linux distribution.
That's the weird thing about Linux users. If you use a fairly cutting-edge distro like Mandrake (as opposed to a conservative one like Debian), you get a new version about every nine months. Just download the CDs, pop them in your computer, and in less than an hour, every program in your box is running the latest version. But no, we still insist on compiling new stuff from tarballs as soon as it comes out.
