Today I saw an interview on Turkish TV with film director Sinan Çetin, who is starting a publishing company. The interviewer asked him if there were any books that had changed his life. He handed her a copy of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead, thus dropping considerably in my estimation.

Then I went into LJ and found a post in [livejournal.com profile] philosophy claiming that utilitarianism was a form of objectivism.

Finally I turned on the TV to find they were showing The Passion of Ayn Rand.

Is this an evil objectivist conspiracy?

Spam solution

I've found a simple solution to my mountains of spam. Instead of setting up tons of filters to cover the most likely spam, I've just set up a few extra filters to cover mail that isn't already filtered by mailing list, so now I just treat Inbox as my spam dumping ground. Of course that means that if anyone who I don't know mails me, they'll have to wait until I can be bothered to look through my spam-dump to check there isn't any real mail before I dump it all, but it's a small price to pay.
