After getting soaked twice and spending last night in an airless pub, I have finally succumbed to the flu that's going round. I should have seen the warning signs: aching finger-joints and a desire to go to bed before 2 a.m.
Still, the airless pub bit was worth it - we want to a gig by Fuat Saka, a Laz (Turkish Black Sea region) folk musician. He's been making music for decades, but for political reasons he hasn't been able to play in Turkey until recently. Laz music is rather like Celtic music, to the extent that it makes me wonder if the Celts settled there (turns out that Fuat himself finds this theory attractive).
