Software patents

Anyone following the software patents controversy will be pleased to note that the French government have weighed in on the Free/Open Source side (see this article). The way the EC works, if the French don't like it, it won't happen, so it looks like we may not have to "harmonise" with America after all.

Flame bait

I have just spent the last half hour trying to download Java Webstart and having the binary code appear on my browser screen. "Tested with all recent versions of popular browsers" my arse - how about testing with all w3c-compatible browsers?
