Wittgenstein tells us: "Don't look for the meaning, look for the use!"

If we apply this to a typical UNIX/Linux system where most users don't know or have forgotten the various search commands, should we then understand ls as "I can't remember the name of the damned file, but I'm pretty sure it's in this directory somewhere"?
