Now I think about it, having written a small amount of code myself, I know I'd probably have done the same thing. Let's say someone had a grudge against LJ - he/she would open an account, then flood it with massive pseudo-posts. Of course one person doing that wouldn't have a great effect, but your average script-kiddy could probably write a cute little e-mail worm that would make every sucker who opened the attachment log in and post the contents of their C drive.

I still think the character limit is far too low, though. Sometimes a houghtful reponse needs to be more than a few soundbytes.
