chrome_kitten's post n pirate names put this in mind.

I finally went out and bought a computer game (normally I just play demos distributed with computer magazines, or download the occasional Linux game). OK, it was a second-hand game. Probably a second hand pirated game. In any case, no printed manual, and not much of help in the README.

So here I am playing Man of War 2, standing on the poop deck or wherever ("Huh huh. He said poop") without a clue as to how I give orders. I can look around with my telescope, I can fire cannons into the sea breze, but I cannot for the life of me get the ship to go anywhere. As you can imagine, in naval combat this is a decided disadvantage. The only Internet sources that Google turns up are either reviews or not there any more. Not even cached (this game came out in 1999, so it's not surprising).

So if any of you out there have played this game, can you please tell me ...
Is it worth persevering with? (some of the reviews were pretty scathing)
If so, how do I get the bloody ship to move?

If I don't get anywhere, I'll go back to the shop and trade it in for - what was it? Real War or something. That one where you play the US Army fighting the terrorist Liberation Army with all the latest military hardware. I've just found out you have the option to play the terrorists, and I'm sure there's some cheat key somewhere to give them Stealth bombers and daisy-cutter bombs. Watch out, Bush, here I come!
