My estimation of John Simpson has just risen. A few snippets from his report on the accidental American bombing of a Kurdish convoy:

[aside]"I've just got a bit of shrapnel in my leg, that's all"

Later ...
"I'm sorry to be so excitable, I'm bleeding through my ear." (this said in a completely calm voice)
