My God, even the History Channel is showing anachronistic Roman armour - legionaries in the war between Caesar and Pompey wearing the kind of strip plate armour that didn't come in till the late first century AD. Grrr.

What'd they do, film something and then 'age' the clips to look ancient? :) Maybe someone needs to do their homework on when the different Metal Ages actually began? You can't rely on these "educational" TV programs to be 100% accurate. I've noticed errors in a few shows in the past.

I think they were filming one of the groups of hobbyists who dress up as Romans and fight mock battles (like the Sealed Knot do with the Civil War period). The uniforms, weapons and armour were accurate, but accurate for a period about a century after the time they were talking about.
